Ceramics 1- Course Expectations

Goals

• To become familiar with processes and techniques unique to creating ceramic forms: pinch, coil, slab construction, & beginning wheel throwing.

• To become familiar with surface decorative techniques: glazes, underglazes, stains & colored slips.

• to learn, understand and apply the vocabulary of art, with a focus on the ceramic arts.

• To appreciate the ceramic arts from a variety of cultures both past & present.

• To be able to thoughtfully analyze your own work and the work of your peers in a group critique.
